The Northern Berks Chamber of Business and Industry has been in operation since December of 2000. The group has grown from a few Northern Berks residents and business owners who were concerned for the future of the Hamburg area to an organization of more than 100 members.
The purpose of the Chamber is to advance the general welfare and prosperity of Northern Berks County with particular attention to the economic, civic, commercial, industrial, professional, cultural and educational interests of the area.
The primary goal of the Chamber is to promote the creation of quality jobs for area residents. One of the ways to accomplish this goal is through the re-development of industrial sites in the area.
Another way the Chamber has been working toward the creation of new jobs is through the development of the Main Street program for downtown Hamburg.
The Chamber was instrumental in the creation of the Our Town Foundation, the organization responsible for running the state downtown revitalization program in Hamburg. The group aims to clean-up the downtown in an effort to create a competitive environment for business expansion and recruitment.
Northern Berks Chamber of Business and Industry members have also become quite influential in dealing with all levels of government. The Chamber Board is invited to many meetings and conferences with government officials. The group has successfully established lines of communication with local, county, state and federal offices and the group’s concerns are taken seriously. This proves there is strength in numbers. Membership in the Chamber can provide the clout needed to make our government pay attention to local issues and needs.
