“Where Friends Meet”
Throughout three generations of ownership since opening day, numerous building expansions have taken place, but the Weist family has stayed devoted to the root mission of the market: providing the local community with a place to gather and connect.
A visit to Leesport Farmers Market gives customers a nostalgic view of yesteryear’s shopping extravaganza when supermarkets were truly non-existent. At the Wednesday farmers market, one can find everything from fresh meats, cheeses, vegetables, and produce to baked goods, clothing, food concessions, and garden items scattered throughout the complex. In addition to the farmers market and livestock auction held every Wednesday, there are collectibles, antiques and novelties in the expanded indoor and outdoor flea market to discover.
In response to the community’s needs, Leesport Farmers Market has not only grown in size, but has expanded to hold craft shows and Sunday flea markets. Click here for more information on booking an event and be sure to visit the website for event schedules.
Leesport Farmers Market is just as committed to serving families in the local community as they were many years ago, with no plans of stopping any time soon. They truly embody their motto, “Where Friends Meet,” finding that their regular customers visit the market not only for the fresh produce and meats, but even more so for the opportunity to build personal relationships with growers and merchants.
“Throughout the decades, we have been consistently humbled by our loyal customers and we sincerely appreciate their continued support,” said Weist. “Friends have met here for the past 70 years and we hope they will continue to meet here for the next 70 years.”
The Leesport Farmers Market is located 8 miles north of Reading and 7 miles south of Hamburg, 1 block east off Route 61 at the north end of Leesport.
